The design for an apartment building conversion into a bank and office space is a formal reaction to the two distinctly shaped neighboring buildings. They are amalgamated and translated into the new building by borrowing and adapting some of their elements.

The base and roof of the building protrude on the western facade to form the new entrance. The eastern facade references its neighbors by regularly placing windows and subtly incorporating its base design. Its larger window openings align seamlessly with the exterior, while the shape of the roof and the selection of building materials nod to the architectural style of the building on the eastern corner. Rooftop features offer a modern interpretation of dormer windows, conforming to 19th-century housing typology.

The interior of the predetermined volume navigates through the building's original dimensions, segmenting the space into nine roughly equal sections, suggesting a sophisticated, layered layout. This playful organization generates a combination of smaller and, by combining several rooms, to form more expansive areas and generous vertical spaces. These central voids allow for spatial references throughout and create the necessary transparency and additional space in the otherwise compact building. Through two new roof structures, the attic is extended into a new, exciting space that provides picturesque views of the Albis Hill.
