Hoch3 Community Center
location: Zürich, Switzerland
client: Evangelisch-reformierte Kirchgemeinde Zürich Witikon
status: Realized
project: 2019
A new neighbourhood centre offers the district Witikon a meeting place close to a church, where people can gather and exchange ideas in an easy-going manner.
The project consists of three gabled volumes of different heights, which protrude and interlock with one another, encircling a shared inner space. They naturally integrate into the star-shaped structure of the existing pathway network.
The center is entered at its shorter side via a porch, where visitors access the elevated-ceiling space. Its timber construction was pre-fabricated in a factory with a few elements that easily fit onto trucks. A wooden, pre-grayed vertical battening visually unifies the three houses.
