A production facility is located at the entry of the Trümpler area in Uster near Zurich. The family-owned, former industrial area was built in the 1980s and has since served as a film studio in recent years. Now, the facility has been subdivided into smaller units for rent in a commercial program. Spilmann Echsle’s refurbishment prioritizes horizontal and vertical flexibility to accommodate various use cases, where the ease of installation and de-installation of the floor and partitioning elements is paramount.

This high standard of structural flexibility serves a dual purpose: First, to accommodate a diverse mix of tenants, ranging from small-scale businesses to more established firms, and second, to enable companies to scale their operations up or down as required. A new metal facade of steel sheet cladding is coupled with large, multi-story openings that give the refurbished building and the surrounding areas a new presence, aligning it with contemporary architectural expectations.
